Brilliant. Thank you. It makes a huge difference to everyone in the 'system'-the emergency attendant, the senior needing care, the doctor, the family members-to enter a space like this. Different sensitivities have a home in this kind of environment: patience, clarity, determining what's needed and what isn't to facilitate care, today, for this moment, for the highest good of everyone involved. It matters to make spaces like these; the effect is positive for all. *

The day of its release, I had a chance to play with an iPad 2. And, aside from the iPad being a fantastic gadget, I quickly came to appreciate the practical implications it has for seniors' use. First of all, I think the touch screen is a huge advantage for older seniors who may otherwise experience challenges controlling a mouse. Also, the iPad's lack of a file structure makes it much easier for people to intuitively share and save photos (no more worries about tracking down file folders).

Here's a post that lays out more details on the iPad's advantages for seniors (as well as a disadvantage) http://collaborativeinsights.org/2011/03/13/ipad-for-seniors/

The ipad 2 is not available in the uk yet, but should be here shortly. Today is my birthday so I am promised one from the Other Half - really enjoyed your video chat and hope to be able to learn to use my ipad the same way with family and friends.

It will be a long time before a viable cure for senescence is found in my opinion, and there is a lot of quackery out there. But I do believe in the idea of cryopreservation after legal death as a possible work-around when there is no other solution available.

I would like to see more doctors and researchers as well as more consumers getting involved in the cryonics conversation. Up until recently it has been treated as mostly just a science fiction concept. Cryonics is experimental, but not what I would call pseudoscience.
